"Everything You Want to Know About OSU West MI Alumni Club - and Were Afraid to Ask"

Your OSUWM Board of Directors met January 7 to craft a strategic plan for our Club.

Our Club's mission:
"We serve as the gateway connecting alumni, students, and friends in lifelong support of Ohio State and each other through Alumni Association membership, programs, and services."
Our five goals align with those of the OSU Alumni Association.

  •  Be a gateway through which OSU alumni in West Michigan connect with Ohio State and with each other.
  • · Cultivate student loyalty by helping students and their families build relationships with alumni in West Michigan.
  • Grow our membership.
  • Use current technology to enhance member connections and information sharing.
  • Make available pertinent information about Ohio State.

We developed a work plan with activities related to each goal.

Click on the Strategic Plan Link below for a listing of the activities. Also, watch for email blasts and the Newsletter for specific upcoming events.

What you do: As many will know, it's not always easy being a Buckeye in Michigan--thus the Ohio State University alumni club of West Michigan enjoys every opportunity it has, to show what a great group of Buckeyes live, work and contribute to life in West Michigan.

Our club has volunteered for WGVU's Public Television since the mid-80's  We have continued to volunteer for the WVGU Telethons at least once a year and thoroughly enjoy answering phones during the station's pledge drives. Our club is very proud of the $15,740.00 in pledges we received during ONE evening in December 2008. Club members have also volunteered in several other Community Service Projects including: Habitat for Humanity, the Annual Blood Drive Competition between the alumni clubs of Michigan State, Notre Dame and the University of Michigan, monetary and food donations to the local Feeding America Food Bank and volunteering at a Mobile Food Pantry, our annual ABCD clothing donations to Mel Trotter Ministries, and contributing to Operation Overdrive which sends care packages to U.S. military personnel stationed overseas. Several club members also serve as representatives of Ohio State at several local college fairs each fall.
